Peter was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario. He was the third child of Ralph and Dorothy Brooks. In 1969, Peter moved with his family to Rochester, New York where he completed his high school education.
He attended Roberts Wesleyan College as an Art major for two years until he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He became a pattern maker and served aboard the USS Yosemite during his four year hitch. While in the Navy, he met Karen (maiden name) with whom he had a child-Katherine.
After an honorable discharge Peter moved to Anaheim, California with his family, who had migrated there from Rochester. Peter worked with his father Ralph in construction for a few years until joining the local construction union.
Peter worked on several major projects throughout southern California including the massive Disneyland parking structure and the Hollywood and Highland complex and the Dolby (Kodak) Theater. Among his many projects at that location, Peter engineered and constructed the main focal point of the complex, the Grand Staircase.
In 1988, Peter bought a house in Corona, California. Six years later he married Caren Cranston. Caren and her daughter Amanda moved in with Pete in Corona. They were married for 15 years.
In 2010 Pete reconnected with Karen, the mother of his daughter Kathie and moved to Florida to be with her. They were married for two years. Peter moved back to southern California and settled in Sun City. He lived there for ten years until he passed away on July 1, 2023.
